Government Engagement
Through consistent engagement with policymakers and health authorities, BCND represents the voices of NDs in discussions about healthcare legislation, regulation, and policy development. Our goal is to ensure that NDs are fairly represented in healthcare frameworks and that their contributions to preventive, holistic, and accessible care are fully supported.
Our government engagement efforts include:
- Advocacy: BCND works closely with government officials to promote the importance of naturopathic medicine in BC’s healthcare system, advocating for the policies that support patient choice, access to primary care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Representation: We work to ensure that NDs have a voice on regulatory boards, healthcare committees, and in discussions on emerging legislation like the Health Professions and Occupations Act.
- Public Health Contributions: BCND supports initiatives that position NDs as essential providers in areas like women’s health, mental health, addiction support, and chronic disease management, helping to fill care gaps in communities across BC.
BCND’s government engagement efforts are a vital part of our mission to support NDs as leaders in improving access to healthcare in BC. Through collaboration with stakeholders, we continue to champion a healthcare system that values naturopathic medicine and provides British Columbians with diverse, high-quality care options.
